Hello Financial Healers,
Bah, humbug! In today’s My Money Time session, we’ll cover the 9 ways wealthy people think. I’ve added a handout here from a study in 2008, which lists each profile: 👇
Don’t be a Scrooge
Ebenezer Scrooge is perhaps the most famous money figure in Western literature. He perfectly fits the Accumulator profile listed in today’s handout. According to this list, an Accumulator’s “primary (and sometimes sole) goal in life is to make more money. They want to do everything possible to grow and protect their personal fortunes because the more they have, the better they feel.”
In Charles’s Dickens’s masterpiece, A Christmas Carol, Scrooge is a greedy businessman who does everything in his power to protect wealth. Although Accumulators like Scrooge appear rich (they are fiscally wealthy), they operate within a poverty mindset.
Obviously, this is not the goal of a Prosperous Soul. Our mission is to follow the Family Steward profile, which we’ll explore later in today’s session.
Rich and miserable
It’s interesting how many wealthy people struggle with poverty thinking. When I was in Sierre Leone, I ministered to some very poor people (according to Western standards). But talking with each, I found they were some of the happiest individuals I’ve ever met.
Which makes me think…
How can some of the world’s wealthiest business leaders have less peace than a person who owns much less?
We’ll explore this idea and more in today’s My Money Time discussion (3:30 PM [CA time]). 👇
