50 sec listen: How ancient cultures influence our money today

Join us live today on My Money Time, 3:30 PM California time, using the link below.

Hello Financial Healers,

In today's meeting, we'll explore three historical mindsets that impact our relationship with money today:

  • Adoption

  • Feral

  • Greek

I’m sure there are more, but these are the three I see most prevalent today.

Two of these mindsets are unhealthy. One if very useful, if applied.

The ancient mindsets

The first paradigm is Adoption. This is the thought process God designed for us in the Garden of Eden.

With this paradigm, people live from a place of abundance and trust. They realize every need is taken care of, and thrive in a state of faith and hope.

Thankfully, Jesus brings us back to adoption when we embrace His redemptive nature (see Romans 8:15). If you find yourself lacking in this area, spend time with Jesus and ask Him to show you His spirit of adoption.

The second mindset is I what I call Feral. This thought process resulted from the Fall of Man. Once sin entered the world, humans began living by a new, ruthless code: survival.

Feral minds are ruled by fear, scarcity, hatred, and lust. They’re cold and barbaric, and many cultures hope to move away from its destructive hold. However, I see the fingerprints even in supposed free nations like the United States.

The third thought process is the Greek or Human-centered mindset.

This worldview embraces democratic, sensual, and humanistic thinking. It pervades so much of the West (Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and the United States), that many of its ideas seem second nature to us.

Obviously, the mindset we want to aspire to is Adoption. Feral and Humanistic worldviews only lead to misery and pain. Yes, they can make us “successful” according to the world’s terms. But building wealth in such a way causes physical, spiritual, and emotional burn out. Better to build wealth while casting all your burdens on the Lord (see Psalm 55:22).

And that’s it!

Thanks for reading. We’ll talk more on this subject at 3:30 PM (CA time) in our My Money Time discussion.
