Are you struggling with this financial sickness?
When I talk to people about their big dreams, or about asking God for something that is crazy huge, I often hear one of the following two responses:
“I can’t see how this thing could happen. I don’t know how it would work.”
“I can’t even imagine this. I can’t dream it.”
Those are two incredibly different categories of thinking. One has hope for the future, and one does not.
The ability to understand, conceive, and plan is a skill that can be grown. It is a muscle you can strengthen.
Right now, many opportunities are just sitting in front of you—and you might be blind to them. Fixing this kind of blindness is easy, and you can grow in your ability to see what’s out there.
Push the wall down. Go ahead. And see what God has set before you.
However, on the other side of the spectrum, the inability to dream is related to hope.
If your hope is turned off, crippled, or shut down, this needs to be fixed, because God did not create you to be in this condition.
The inability to dream is a financial disease. It will sap your strength and wear you down until all you can do is sit on the couch and let life happen to you instead of the other way around, thinking:
“I can’t change my circumstances.”
“Why even try?”
“I don’t have the strength to dream.”
“I am the victim.”
“I can’t even imagine how my life could be any different.”
But there is hope. This financial disease—the inability to dream—can be healed.
Maybe that’s what you need to hear today. Do you understand that God can fix the empty, haunting doubt inside you that says there cannot be a better future?
This week, spend some time meditating on Matthew 19:26. Read it, consider it, and apply it to your life:
Looking at them, Jesus said to them, “With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (NASB)
That truth is your truth. All things are possible with God. You may not be able to see or comprehend how something is going to work out in your life, but that’s okay—you can grow in that skill. But it is time to be healed of this financial disease stealing your ability to hope.
God’s ability to bless you is literally without walls. There is no context, limit, or framework for how much He can do in your life and in your family.
Whatever your circumstances are today, may you be able to ask the Lord for great increase. And may you be able to believe Him and start to dream again about your future.
