Chapter 2: Trouble with Money

Hello Financial Healers,

When I wrote my book in 2009, the U.S. was on the heels of the housing bubble crisis. Most of us remember this painful season, which saw the failure of several colossal financial institutions. Let’s recap those tumultuous events:

• The subprime mortgage crisis. 

• Collapse of the United States housing bubble. 

• Global financial crisis.

• Failure or collapse of many of the United States’ largest financial institutions: Bear Stearns, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Lehman Brothers, and AIG. 

• Crisis in the automobile industry. 

In response, the government implemented an unprecedented $700 billion bank bailout and a $787 billion fiscal stimulus package. Many saw this as an unjust and unhealthy form of federal overreach.

Although we managed to crawl out of this uncomfortable time and experience prosperity, the COVID-19 pandemic struck. Over 24 million Americans lost their jobs in just 3 weeks. (This triggered significant shifts in consumer and business behavior, which I believe will continue for generations.)

As we approach 2024, I foresee another financial crisis looming. With escalating national debt and unchecked spending, it seems our economy is heading toward more struggle.

I propose the solution is not to live in fear, but to engage with the economy. We cannot allow ourselves to be victims.

A great transfer of wealth is coming, and it’s crucial we as Prosperous Souls are equipped to handle the blessing.
