Do you keep running into the same money lie?
Encountering the same money lie again and again is actually a normal part of growth. It happens in my life too. I find old beliefs I thought I conquered, and it still catches me off guard. Â
Let’s take a minute to talk about why this happens. Hopefully this will relieve your heart and help you see you are making progress.Â
Changing your belief system is like climbing a spiral staircase.
You are moving higher and higher in life. As you put in the work to become more like Christ, you are healing, gaining ground, increasing your capacity, and traveling upward.
But the staircase is circular. You will likely circle back to old issues you thought you dealt with—and you did deal with them, but it was back on the second floor, when the stakes were lower. You are now on the eighth floor and are having to deal with the same lie at a different level.
As long as you choose not to settle for the lie, you will make progress and your capacity will grow.
Maybe the last time you faced this money lie, you were single and living in an apartment. Maybe now you have a family and own a house. Or perhaps you’re struggling to grow your business.
You are farther along than you were before, and at this higher level, the problems are bigger. But the lie is still a lie, and it can be pulled out like a weed.
If you find yourself dealing with the same lies, don’t be discouraged. This is a normal part of human life—and you are making progress.
