Hello Financial Healers,
We have some good news. Finally.
According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the price of eggs has gone down. Yay!
In a word of failing banks, looming recessions, and pointless wars, it’s wonderful to get some positive news.
The US’s latest CPI data was released on March 14th. While many food items went up, breakfast staples like eggs decreased in price:
“… meats, poultry, fish, and eggs index fell 0.1 percent over the month, the first decrease in that index since December 2021. The index for eggs fell 6.7 percent in February following sharp increases in recent months.”
Why the sudden change?
According to Bloomberg, this came from a repopulation of egg-laying hens that had been decimated by avian flu.
Chris Tomasso, the CEO of restaurant chain First Watch, claims, “the industry is repopulating egg-laying hens and as long as there isn’t another outbreak, flock populations should be back at levels where they can sustain the demand.”
This is great news for those of us who love breakfast.
Hopefully the egg-laying hens can keep up the repopulation effort. I, for one, am ready for more omelettes!
God bless your Prosperous Soul,
Stephen K. De Silva
