THE TRUTH ABOUT FEAR AND YOUR FINANCES
Fear is a tough subject when it comes to money. Sometimes our disappointments are so profound we take extra measures to avoid future failures. We do a quick internal calculus and associate fear with protection, thinking, This fear will keep me from making bad decisions. I can’t afford to be disappointed again.
Although statements like these seem empowering, they drain away our hope. Fear begins to imprison us and weakens our ability to dream. Â
If you’re dealing with fear in your finances, here’s the good news:
Fear is not our friend.
Fear is not a gift from God we should use to navigate life.
Fear is not a compass. It can't help us understand where we’re going.
If fear is an obstacle for you, renounce its hold and ask God to put His truth in its place. Scripture says:
We love, because He first loved us. (1 John 4:19)
The one who does not love does not know God, because God is love. (1 John 4:8 NASB)
Fear is not a path we should take. Sure, we can experience fear, but it doesn’t have to control us. There’s a better road: adoption in Christ. He loved us first, so we get to operate in His love.
The next time you start to feel fear in your finances, take a deep breath. Step back. Ask God what He thinks of your situation.
Realize this fear is not an impossible boundary, but a hurdle you can easily cross when partnered with God’s grace.
Here’s a prayer for this week:
Father God, thank You for being bigger than my bills and household expenses. I release any fear I have regarding my finances and declare that You are my provider. I believe that You will provide a way out for me and my family in this season. As I partner with You, my wealth and peace will supernaturally grow. In Jesus’s Name, amen.
