Who is God shaping you to be?
Greetings Prosperous Souls,
There’s an old saying: if living was easy, everyone would do it.
It’s no secret that we expect things to be comfortable, or at least bearable, as followers of Christ. After all, as faithful servants, aren’t we entitled to some measure of protection?
In a sense, yes and no.
God does promise that we can overcome trials. But He also warns of their existence in the first place. Consider Jesus’ words:
“I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” — John 16:33 NLT
Being a Christian doesn’t guarantee a life of ease. But it does mean that Jesus has already overcome every circumstance we face. And where are we? Seated with Christ in the heavenlies:
“And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus…” — Ephesians 2:6 NIV
This week, take some time to examine the trials you face. From a position of authority, approach them with confidence, knowing that you are positioned with God in the heavens. Repeat this prayer out loud:
Father in heaven, I know You are listening. I also know You are good enough to care about my welfare. I present this problem to You in the court of heaven. I request my Savior’s legal defense. I understand that God is my deliverer. And with God, the question is not if but when. Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit, I give You this problem and ask for my miracle and wonder. I desperately need Your rescue, and I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
After you pray, place a hand over your heart and declare: “I am a Prosperous Soul!”
