44 sec listen: The internal battle over money + Hollywood's hatred of the rich

Join us live today on My Money Time, 3:30 PM California time, using the link below.

Hello Financial Healers,

Today we’ll discuss an internal battle that many face: the fear that financial success will corrupt.

Used in righteous hands, money can do much good.

In the wrong hands, money is a nightmare.

(We’ll talk more about this in our group coaching session later today at 3:30 PM [CA time]. Join us if you’re a premium subscriber.)

In other news…

The Oscars were Sunday night.

Huh?

I know. I missed it, too.

You might as well have told me there was a ladybug convention. (Do those exist?)

Point is…

… Hollywood produces a lot of culture.

This culture educates the population on many topics, including wealth.

So, what does the industry say about riches?

I’ll give you a hint: not favorable.

Two movies I saw recently showed what I believe Hollywood thinks about the wealthy.

While the stories followed different plots, the message was the same: Rich people bad. Poor people good.

Why is this belief so popular?

Hollywood is a powerful influencer on the planet.

Its ability to mold generations is unparalleled.

For whatever reason, Hollywood has shifted its animosity to the wealthy class, giving the population a place to aim their grievances.

George Orwell called this the Two Minutes Hate in 1984.

Humanity loves a villain. If someone is to blame, that person can be extinguished (and the problems along with them).

In this case, Hollywood is targeting the wealthy and perpetuating a lie, that having more money makes you evil.

But if that were true, prosperous individuals from the Bible would have to be discounted (Abraham, Isaac, Jacob/Israel, Joseph, David, and Solomon, to name a few).

Money is a tool.

Like anything else.

It has no moral compass on its own.

A righteous man or woman can do immense good with money.

Solomon wrote:

The blessing of the LORD makes rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.

— Proverbs 10:22 ESV

Instead of giving into Hollywood’s cynicism, let’s learn how the wealthy think.

Apply their principles to how we live, so we, too, can experience blessing.

P.S: one of the best studies I’ve found on how wealthy think is Dr. Thomas Stanley’s, The Millionaire Mind. Check it out here, if you’re interested.

God bless your Prosperous Soul,
