What has God told you about your future? What has He assigned to you?
A poverty spirit will try to convince you that you have no hope of completing your assignment. It concludes in advance, “I’m a victim. There’s nothing I can do. The failure I don’t want to happen is going to occur anyway, and I can’t stop it.”
A poverty spirit is essentially faith in bad things, which is anti-Christ. We tend to dress up poverty thoughts and make them “manageable,” so they seem less destructive than they actually are.
Some might say, “I’m going to be cautious. I don’t want to be entitled, arrogant, or proud. I don’t want to go for something that God doesn’t want to give me. So I’m just being careful.”
Yes, some of those ideas contain an element of truth.
But the bottom line is when God assigns something to us we need to go after it. We need to get out of our door, roll up our sleeves, and do our part. That is what co-laboring with Christ looks like.
When we hear God speak to our hearts and give us ideas, we need to say, “Yes, God, I’m on it.” And go accomplish that task.
We are not passive, weak, timid, or fragile. We are men and women of God serving Him on purpose, and we don’t give up.
Where do you need to be ferocious this week in your pursuit of what God has assigned to you? Where is the poverty spirit pushing you around?
The poverty spirit will do its best to corrupt, distort, and destroy. It wants to distract you from your purpose—this special dream God has assigned to you—and make you feel like you can only go backward, not forward.
But God made you to be a Prosperous Soul. This week, let Him reignite the fire in your heart, and don’t be afraid to stand up and push for what He has told you to accomplish.
Love this encouragement and so well said. Knowing that even what we think sounds good can be coming from a poverty mindset, blows my mind. This really is about renewing our minds to Christ and kingdom living.
