Greetings Prosperous Souls,
I was reading another book by Thomas Sowell, and was inspired by his economic wisdom. Allow me to share it with you now:
“... input is not the measure of value. Results are.”
Simple, right? But maybe not so easy to implement.
Picture this: you’re at a top-notch restaurant, eagerly anticipating a juicy Ribeye steak. But when it arrives, it’s practically raw! You complain to the manager, only to be told, “But the chef spent 3 hours cooking it! Why can’t you see it’s value?”
Absurd, right? But this scenario perfectly illustrates Sowell’s principle. If your steak is inedible, who cares how long it took to make? The end result is what matters. Does the customer enjoy the product and feel that it’s worth the money paid for?
Remember: “... input is not the measure of value. Results are.”
The need to compress time
As entrepreneurs, it’s easy to obsess over a product and spend too much time refining it. Think like a gourmet chef who runs a fancy restaurant: my customer wants this dish in 30 minutes. I better make sure they get an excellent product within that time frame.
You could spend all day fine-tuning, but what matters most is your end result. Does your service work? Will your customers feel satisfied with the money they pay?
Keep in mind: “... input is not the measure of value. Results are.”
If you’re an artist who spends too much time perfecting a design, think about how you can expedite your process. If you’re a business owner struggling to get ahead, what shortcuts can you implement to move on to your next task and improve results?
Whatever your situation, get alone with God and ask Him how to expedite your ingenuity.
Rest is important, but this week, truly aim to add value to the market, because economically speaking, the result of something is the real measure of its success.
God bless your Prosperous Soul,
