HOW THREE WORDS CHANGED A STAGNANT MONEY SITUATION
A few weeks ago, I asked a question at the beginning of my Prosperous Soul Foundations class. “How are you applying your Prosperous Soul lessons to your life?”
One student began to tell us about her business.
She’s a service provider who exchanges her time and expertise for dollars, and she was having a problem. Her clients would pay for her services when (and if) they wanted to, not when she invoiced them.
But then she started applying her Prosperous Soul to her business. “One thing I did on purpose was add a simple statement to my invoice that says, ‘Due upon receipt.’”
Just three words. But this decision was a meaningful act that carried significant weight for her and her business.
There’s a huge difference between being poor in spirit and having a poverty spirit.
A poverty spirit says, “I don’t have a right to ask for payment for my wage. I am worth less.”
But someone who is poor in spirit can say, “I understand my value. I’m not in a competition to say I’m better than anyone, but I also recognize through humility that my client and I are in agreement. So I’m going to tell them what they owe and let them know when it’s due.”
This business owner, as simple as it might sound, had an amazing revelation while taking my course. Brought about by Prosperous Soul thinking, her decision changed her business experience and began to draw in more dollars for her. Her clients responded and started paying her when the invoice came.
Business skills aren’t enough to run a business successfully.
You and I are better versions of ourselves when we work from the inside out rather than from the outside in. A person’s skills always bow to their belief system. The belief system is king.
This is fundamental to Prosperous Soul Foundations. No matter how much you learn, read, research, pay for advice, onboard knowledge, discipline yourself—if you have bad beliefs about money, your newfound skills won’t help you.
As this business owner’s belief system grew to the level of her skill, her business began to reap the rewards.
