As we go through the LGS, I thought it would be helpful to look at some hard numbers.
Why? Because seeing how other U.S. households spend can give you a sense of whether you're spending too much (or not enough) in a given category.
Keep in mind, these amounts vary depending on where you live. California, for example, has some of the highest living costs in the country, while a more rural state like Wyoming has lower expenses.
That said, here’s a chart showing average household spending across the U.S. by major category.
Use it as a guardrail to evaluate whether your own spending is on track. If you find yourself spending well above average in any area, consider scaling back so you can redirect some funds into giving or saving.
