You can conquer debt and inflation
Hello Financial Healers,
I sent an earlier version of this article out in December. I hope you find it useful.
Here we go…
Inflation. Debt. Hazardous spending.
What do all these have in common?
They kill your wealth.
If you’ve been facing financial difficulties lately (let’s be honest… who hasn’t?), realize you’re in the majority. Inflation alone is killing Americans’s savings. (And I expect it to be around for a while.)
We live in a time of rising debt, rent, and unaffordable groceries.
How do we stay sane?
The first step is to bury yourself in God’s Word. Consider this verse:
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. — Philippians 4:6 NIV
Notice the key takeaways:
Don’t be anxious.
Be thankful.
Present your requests to God. In all situations.
Are you doing that?
God shares a formula for experiencing radical peace, a peace that sneaks past the logical mind.
Logic is helpful. But not in times of stress.
In such situations, logic focuses on the negative instead of finding creative solutions.
Receiving God’s peace doesn’t erase problems, but it does cripple stress’s authority. The kind of stress that gnaws at your peace like a diseased rodent.
Wouldn’t you rather feel peaceful in intense situations?
I often remind my clients how drowning people can kill their rescuers due to panic.
You can’t escape a crippling money situation if you’re freaking out.
It’s okay to be scared, but eventually, you need to get up and ask God for His help.
I know it sounds simple, but trust me. It works.
I did this the other night with my wife, Dawna.
We were exhausted and stressed and looking at an impossible situation, wondering, How will this crisis ever get resolved?
I repeated Philippians 4:6 until I felt God’s peace overwhelm me, then I asked him to help me with this situation, and moved on.
Dawna and I are still working on the issue, but we’re now operating from a place of rest.
Not despair or misery.
So, to summarize…
Take those 1-2 crises that are stressing you out: a credit card bill or lousy health insurance.
Request that God will provide a way out for you. Be specific, “Lord, help us pay off our credit cards within six months.”
Once your needs are declared, move on.
Because God hears you…
… and your answer is on the way.
